Keeping Hope in the Mail

Wendelin Van Draanen will share insights from her twenty years in publishing, including story (finding ways to avoid the sagging middle and get to a strong ending), revision (its importance and how to learn to love it), “a peek behind the curtain” of traditional publishing (agents, editors, copy-editors, design), and will inspire you to keep writing no matter the obstacles.

Wendelin’s Bio

Wendelin Van Draanen is the bestselling author of more than thirty traditionally published books, including the long-running Edgar-winning Sammy Keyes mystery series. Her novel Flipped, named a Top 100 Children’s Novel for the 21stCentury by SLJ, became a Warner Brothers feature film, and Shredderman became a Nickelodeon made-for-TV movie. Her first non-fiction book, Hope in the Mail, Reflections on Writing and Life, is part memoir, part craft guide, and part publishing insight, suitable for teen and adult audiences, especially those who want to write.
