SUMMARY:May Presentation and Meeting
DESCRIPTION:HOW TO USE HUMOR IN YOUR WRITING.\nWriters Terry Willey and Carol Baker will present on “Finding Your Funny.”\n \nAuthors Terry Willey and Carol Baker bring decades of experience in writing the funny\, from parody scripts and satirical series to murder mysteries and improv theatre.  Their workshop explores how humor deepens character\, enlivens dialogue\, and transforms storytelling across genres.  Drawing on traditions from Shakespeare to Seinfeld\, they’ll guide you through joke formats\, comic archetypes\, and playful writing exercises to help you find your own comedic voice. \nTheir creativity extends to film\, including two short films\, a full-length feature\, and an industrial film.  They’ve written humorous scripts and parodies that earned prizes\, as well as teleplays that found success in national contests.  Their short stories appear in five anthologies\, and they recently published two novels: \nTime Travel for Fun and Prophet (2023) blends humor\, heart\, and high‑octane adventure in a story about unlikely heroes\, impossible choices\, and the strange ways time brings people together. Rio Cyborg (2025) is a Sci‑Fi/Western about a cyborg drifter who gets drawn into a fight against a ruthless water baron. \n*Also at the May meeting: More Skillduggery: tools to help you become a better writer. \n*Winners and readings from the April “Writing Conflict” contest. \n*Refreshments provided.
