“Going to the Park is a selected entry from the March/26 “Dialogue” writing contest.

“Olivia! Pupito! Do you want to go for a walk to the park?” Dad asked.

“What do you think? Fat boy.” Pupito smirked.

“Don’t call the Dad that, Pupito; he’s a good dog dad.”

“Well, I had him all trained before you showed up,” Pupito said.

“Your place now is with your Dad and your Mom. These guys are my people now.”

“I heard Dad say Here we go,” Olivia saidDo we always have to jump up and down? Can’t we line up and get a starting treat?”

“We don’t get a starting treat anymore, that’s for puppies,” said Olivia.

“There’s the garage door rolling up, and I want to be the first one to pee on the mailbox pole,” Pupito said.

“You boys and your exhibitionist peeing.”

“See, what did I just say. Dad just had to tell you to watch where you’re pointing that thing.”

“Please don’t act like you don’t like to smell everybody’s pee; we all do.”

“We all don’t have to wave that thingy around.”

“ I get to ride in the Royal Barge and observe my kingdom, you peasant,” Olivia said with a huff.

“I’m the alpha male in our little troupe, here today,” said Pupito.

“You’re just lucky those handsome German Shepherds are tied to that car.”

“They’re tied to the car, so I don’t take them down a few notches,

” Pupito said, with his tail in the air.

“Right, big shot, and you’re not delusional at all.”

“I could, Oh, wait, I smell fresh pee right over there,” Pupito said.“I’m not going to lower myself to smell what you think is fresh; I’ll find my own, thank you.”

“Wait, don’t move.”

“Why are you growling, Pupito?”

“Those two big dogs are coming this way. I have a history with these two. They are sneaky shits. Here they come, protect the Dad, I’ll take care of them.”

“Be careful, Pupito! Look out, one of them is distracting you, and the other one is sneaking up behind you.”

“Stay back, I got this.”

“There they go, you’re barking scared them off, Oh Pupito, you’re so brave.”

“We showed those two not to mess with us.”

“ You are my hero, Pupito.”

“Well, your Highness, I will always be your champion.”
